As-salamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullah,
Today, I stood in front of a plant blooming with the most beautiful flowers. Words could never capture their beauty. But then I saw something else—a part of the same plant had already shed its flowers. The petals were gone, and all that remained were empty stems.
And something struck me deeply:
Even the most beautiful things must fall, for something sweeter to grow.
That’s how life feels sometimes. There are days when we are full of light—full of joy, peace, and ease. And then there are days when something shifts. A moment changes everything. A mistake, a disappointment, a closed door. A time we cherished slips away, and we’re left wondering why.
We suffer—not always in ways the world can see.
We carry pain quietly. Through nights of tears. Through silent frustrations. Through questions we don’t have answers to.
Sometimes, it’s the weight of our own expectations.
Sometimes, it’s regret over something we could have done differently.
Sometimes, it’s the ache of trying and not succeeding.
And in those moments, it feels like the flowers of our life are falling one by one.
But then, Allah reminds us:
> “Indeed, with hardship comes ease.”
— Surah Ash-Sharh (94:6)
It’s not wrong to cry. It’s not a weakness to feel broken. Even the strongest believers have moments when their hearts tremble. But true strength is not in avoiding pain—it is in returning to Allah with that pain.
We are not always strong enough to understand or accept what happens. Sometimes we collapse. We question. We stay awake at night asking why. But deep down, we know that every test has a purpose—even when we don’t see it.
> “Perhaps you dislike something which is good for you, and perhaps you love something which is bad for you. Allah knows, and you do not know.”
— Surah Al-Baqarah (2:216)
Maybe Allah is not punishing us—but preparing us.
Maybe He is not closing doors—but protecting us.
Maybe the things that fall away are not losses, but lessons.
And through it all, He is closer to us than we realize:
> “And We are closer to him than [his] jugular vein.”
— Surah Qaf (50:16)
Yes, it hurts.
Yes, we cry.
But when we trust that every drop of pain is known to Allah—our heart begins to heal.
We are not forgotten. We are not alone.
We are simply being refined.
> “So be patient. Indeed, the promise of Allah is truth.”
— Surah Ar-Rum (30:60)
And just like the plant—once the flowers fall, the fruit begins to grow.
Let go, not with despair, but with faith.
May Allah fill our hearts with sabr, surround us with His mercy, and grant us ease after every trial.
Ameen.
With warmth and hope,
Junaid
